Favourite Cruelty-Free Products Part 1: Makeup
About a year ago, I decided to switch over to using only cruelty-free brands and was excited to discover that it is a lot easier than you'd think! I am no expert in makeup and wear very little but when it comes to beauty products, I will search high and low until I find what works for me and then use that product forever. I've spent the past year educating myself on which brands are cruelty-free and have tested many products to find the ones that work best for me.
These are my favourite brands for cruelty-free makeup:
This was the hardest one for me. I have very sensitive skin and am prone to break-outs so I had a bit of difficulty changing over to a new brand. I have been using Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Foundation by Urban Decay for about 6 months and it is my favourite! I'd say that it even helps keep break-outs at bay! It keeps me from getting oily and I enjoy wearing it. The only thing is; I find that in the winter, when my skin is drier than usual, I need to load on extra moisturizer before using this. Also, something to note: this company is certified 100% cruelty free but their parent brand is not.
For power foundation, I use BarePro Performance Wear Powder Foundation by bareMinerals. It goes on so smooth!
I use a very small amount of blush every day and love the Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush by Tarte. It looks natural and blends easily.
I have yet to find a mascara that I am wildly impressed with, so for that reason, I refuse to splurge on it. I have been using the Volume Plumping Mascara by ELF and love it! I think that it works just as well as the expensive brands if not better. It doesn't clump and is only $3.00!
The Tattoo Liner by Kat Von D has become my favourite. I don't wear eyeliner very often and kind of suck at applying it so this one is my top choice because of how easy it is to use.
Kat Von D has won my heart here again with this lipstick. I LOVE all of her lipsticks. They are seriously the best! My favourite shades are Lolita and Cathedral.
